Looked After Children

Music therapy can be used to help people of all ages to express and explore their feelings.

Looked after children may have experienced trauma at an early age or may have had difficult events in their life. Children do not always have the words or emotional awareness to talk about these complex feeling. Music therapy can be a really helpful way to express themselves and communicate without the need for words.

Music therapy can be a safe space for a child to release some of their emotions and it can help give children some  resilience to manage their feelings.

Music therapy can also help looked after children who struggle to make attachments and build trust. Through music, the therapist will work with the child responding to them, following their lead, building trust and helping establish a positive relationship.

MusicSpace is on Adoption West’s approved list of service providers.
