Life-limiting Conditions

Many children with life-limiting conditions have complex health needs. This might impact on their communication, their physical abilities and their emotional well-being. However, almost everyone responds to music, regardless of any physical or cognitive disability.

Our music therapists will use a variety of instruments to improvise music in response to a child. A child might express themselves through playing instruments, singing, movements, breathing pattern or words. Children are given plenty of time to initiate or respond to the music. The therapist will listen, support and respond to the child building a positive and interactive relationship.

Music therapy also provides children with sensory stimulation and a creative outlet, providing a supportive space where they can relax, have fun and express themselves.

"My son has very complex needs and is unable to do lots of things. Music therapy brings so much out in him that you never see when he’s doing anything else. It’s so lovely to see him interact with Julia and he even tries to join in which is just so brilliant and lovely for us to see. Music therapy is amazing, fun and helps children like mine come alive!! So thank you MusicSpace."
