Degrees

Music therapists are able to apply to join the M.Phil/Ph.D. programme within the Faculty at UWE. In addition to Leslie Bunt two other music therapists are currently working within the Faculty:

1) Cathy Durham is employed as Research Fellow in Music Therapy (a Music Therapy Charity Fellowship) and her doctoral action research project focuses on group processes in music therapy with a group of adults with profound learning difficulties

2) Peter Whelan's M.Phil. project is a detailed study of an extensive music therapy period of work of a young autistic boy's journey from childhood to adulthood

Barbara Zanchi (MusicSpace Italy) is applying to join the research group with a project exploring how music therapy is used by young people with mental health problems.

There are other proposals in the pipeline, including those from senior staff within MusicSpace.

All work for research degrees is carefully supervised by a group of at least three members of UWE' s academic staff co-ordinated by a Director of Studies. There are ample opportunities to take part in research seminars, meetings and symposia organised by the Faculty.
